The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed the J&K authorities to accelerate the sports activities in the state and bring the curriculum of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on a par with the national curriculum.
The authorities have also been directed to “identify the madrassas and bring them under formal education”.
“These measures would be taken to streamline the mess that the state is in. These are developmental projects for the betterment of the state youth,” said a senior official in the administration.
The directions by the MHA to the top brass of the state and the home department read: “Streamline the JKBOSE curriculum with the national curriculum. Identify religious madrassas to bring them under formal education.”
The curriculum in the schools across the state is designed by the Board of School Education and is taught in most of the government and private schools. There are a limited number of schools in the state which teach the Central Board of School Education curriculum.
With the state grappling with unemployment, the Home Ministry has asked the authorities to work towards employment generation and youth engagement.
“The Watan Ko Jano programme and mega cultural events should be organised in all 22 districts. The student exchange programme needs to be streamlined and continued,” the directions read.
The MHA has also asked the state authorities to fill 42,211 vacancies in the government organisations.
“The phase two of the Himayat scheme and the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana in the state needs to be accelerated,” it read.
